CATCH is a national initiative to protect and expand affordable housing near transit. We work with cities, communities, and investors to ensure infrastructure benefits those who need it most—through new solutions, local action, and smart investment.
Despite its promise to improve access and sustainability, transit-oriented development makes housing affordability worse in cities across Canada – not better. We know why.
Our approach was born from a successful, collaborative housing lab in Hamilton, Ontario. By combining inclusive community planning, municipal coordination, and innovative social finance, we’ve built a tested solution. CATCH is now bringing this model to communities across Canada.
"This is how transit can serve inclusion—by design, not default."
Every city is unique, but many face the same affordability challenge. CATCH brings shared insight, catalytic capital, and local alignment to help drive impactful projects.
Build resources
We are building a national inventory of resources to help those interested in furthering transit-connected affordable housing
Facilitate collaboration
We facilitate local collaboratives to co-create integrated, equitable transit and housing strategies.
Apply social finance
We apply social finance tools, including the creation of blended capital funds to invest in non-market housing near transit corridors.
The CATCH fund is a new blended-capital fund designed to support the acquisition, development, and preservation of community housing near transit lines. Transit investment shouldn’t price people out; it should bring them in.
This growing library brings together reports, tools, presentations, and policy documents that support inclusive, transit-connected housing in communities across Canada.
We’re growing a movement of communities, policymakers, funders, and developers committed to affordable, transit-connected housing. Let’s work together to shape what transit investments can make possible.
